Dr. Rupinder K. Toor Mangat BSc(Hon). M.D. CCFP


Dr. Mangat is the award winning Medical Director and Founder of the Northeast Calgary Women's Clinic.  She is passionate about women's health, quality care and community education.  Born in India, she moved to Canada at a young age, and was raised mostly in Calgary.  She was blessed with a strong sense of community service from her late father, Harbhajan Singh Toor, and a strong spiritual base from her mother Mohinderjit Kaur Toor.  She received her BSc. Honours in Biochemistry, and M.D. at the University of Calgary.  She studied Family Medicine at the University of Western Ontario in London, and has been in practice since 1998.  She is fluent in English and Punjabi (and can understand most Hindi and Urdu!).  Dr. Mangat was the proud recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in October 2012, Global Calgary Woman of Vision Award in June 2008, and the Outstanding Service Award 2009 from the India-Canada Association of Calgary, for her work in establishing the NE Women's Clinic.  She is a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine and is involved with teaching for medical students and residents.

Dr. Amninder Shergill MBBS, CCFP


Dr. Shergill is the Assisant Medical Director and Founding Member with the Northeast Calgary Women's Clinic.  She was born and raised in Punjab, India and moved to Calgary in 2001.  She received her MBBS at MAHE University in Karnataka, India.  Dr. Shergill can speak English, Punjabi and Hindi, and can understand Urdu.  She completed her CCFP training at the University of Calgary in 2007.  In addition to working at the Northeast Calgary Women's Clinic, Dr. Shergill has worked extensively as a Hospitalist at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary.  She has won the best-dressed award at the clinic, so keep an eye out for her fashion styles.

Dr. Melissa Fyhn BSc MD CCFP


We were extremely pleased to welcome Dr. Fyhn to the Northeast Calgary Women's Clinic in July 2008.  She completed her BSc in Kinesiology at the University of Victoria and MD at the University of Calgary.  Dr. Fyhn grew up in Calgary and can speak English and French.  She believes in women taking care of themselves so that they can share the best they have to offer with the rest of the world, and serve their communities to the best of their abilities. In addition to women's health, Dr. Fyhn enjoys travel medicine and general family practice.  When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with loved ones, cooking, staying active and trying new adventures.

Dr. Katrina Sawatsky  MD CCFP

Dr Sawatsky has been with the clinic off and on since 2008.  She was born in Calgary and completed her medical and Family Medicine training at the University of Calgary.  She is interested in International Medicine and has spent extended time as a medical volunteer in places like Afghanistan.  Dr. Sawatsky also practises low risk Obstetrics at the Rockyview Hospital.  She is passionate about outdoor activities and spending time with her family.

Other Associate Physicians

The NE Calgary Women's Clinic is proud to have a team of female physicians who are dedicated to our mission and passionate about women's health.  The doctors follow clinic protocols and share a similar philosophy in helping women in a supportive environment. 

Support Staff

Our support staff are dedicated to the clinic mission and are a valuable long term asset to our team. 

We have a number of Patient Services Specialists, who manage phone calls, schedule appointments, register patients when they arrive at the clinic and look after other patient concerns. Many of them are able to speak additional languages.

Our Clinical Aides help prepare patients for their visit with the doctor.  They check weights, blood pressure and urine samples as needed.

Jaspreet is our Clinic Manager and has been with the clinic almost since it opened.   She was born in India, has both at B.A., B.Ed., and worked as a teacher and principal for 5 years before her family moved to Canada in 1993.  She has completed additional training as a Licensed Practical Nurse and in Electrolysis.  She can speak English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu.  Feel free share any comments or concerns with her, or just say hi!

We are also happy to employ students, and support volunteers who assist the clinic during various times at the clinic.
